Soundtrack Sunday with Miles Davis for the movie ' SIESTA '

To this day one of my very favorite soundtracks. I remember buying the album in the University District with my then boyfriend Andrew Wood, of Mother Love Bone. He loved Miles Davis. We then saw that it was a movie that was just coming out and went to see it down the street.

I'm always surprised when I meet someone who's never seen it. With a huge cast starring Gabriel Byrne, Julian Sands, Isabella Roselinni, Martin Sheen, Ellen Barkin, and Jodie Foster, and even a fun cameo with Grace Jones, it was one of the most interestingly cast movies and one of the sexiest I've even seen.

Ellen Barkin was also married to Gabriel Byrne at the time, I believe they had 5 children together.

via Wiki~ The screenplay was written by Patricia Louisianna Knop, based on a novel by Patrice Chaplin. The film was shot on location inSpain, released by Lorimar Motion Pictures, and debuted in New York City on November 11, 1987. The film's themes are sex and death. Jazz trumpeter Miles Davis performed on the score for the film, Music from Siesta, which was written and arranged by frequent Davis collaborator Marcus Miller. Film critic Janet Maslin called it an "excitingly bad, artily experimental film".

Speaking of siestas, why don't Americans practice the art of napping like they do in Spain?
